A WBOC-TV viewer submitted a picture of a creature that has remained unidentified.
“Jamie Beth Evans of Dagsboro, Del., said her husband captured it this week while clamming near the Indian River Inlet in Sussex County.”
“In one photo, the creature looks oval shaped. In another, it has tubing or tentacles hanging out.”
“The top right here kind of looks like a horseshoe crab but those tentacles, I don’t know what that is,” said one visitor to Bethany Beach who examined the photo. Guesses collected on the boardwalk ranged from turtle to squid, octopus to crab.”
“Evans said the creature was about the size of a tennis ball but had the shape of a kiwi.”
“Scientists at the University of Delaware’s College of Earth, Ocean and Environment in Lewes had no solid answers after reviewing the pictures. Marine Advisory Service Agent Joe Farrell said it’s likely the animal is deformed but experts would need size dimensions and a specimen to attempt identification.”
Why didn’t they keep it?? Why not freeze it? Put it in a jar of formaldehyde…do something with it…just don’t throw it away! Very frustrating. I worry that one of these days an alien body….or a Bigfoot…or some other mysterious creature corpse will actually turn up and some goof will disregard it and just shovel it in his dumpster.

Looks like intestine. Maybe an animal that’s stomach exploded during decomposition.
